Coherent generation and detection of acoustic phonons in topological nanocavities

In this work, the authors study topological phononic modes confined in nanoscale multilayer resonators. Through pump and probe measurements using an asynchronous optical sampling (ASOPS) technique, resolution limitations from previous works are lifted allowing to clearly distinguish confined topological modes from stationary band edge ones.
