4th WOMBAT Workshop on optomechanics and Brillouin scattering at Erlangen, DE (June 2021)

We are pleased to announce that the 4th international Workshop on Optomechanics and Brillouin scattering: Fundamentals, Applications and Technology (WOMBAT) will be held at the Max-Planck Institute for the Science of Light in Erlangen (Germany), 15 – 17 June 2021.

The WOMBAT series of workshops aims to gather the international research community working on interactions between light, sound and mechanical vibrations and to bridge the gap between the fields of Brillouin scattering and (cavity) opto-mechanics research. At the same time, we strive to represent the full spectrum of research from fundamental science to applications.

Like the previous workshops (Sydney 2015, Besançon 2017, Tel Aviv 2019), the 4th WOMBAT will bring together leading scientists from across the globe. In particular, we intend to provide a platform for early career researchers and introductory-level education for students via a series of tutorial lectures delivered by renowned experts in the field.

This website will be updated regularly as invited speakers confirm their attendance and workshop preparations are finalized. We plan to open abstract submission for contributed presentations in January 2021 (see tentative roadmap). We invite you to be part of our active, growing and lively research community and to enjoy a stimulating meeting.

We hope to meet you in Erlangen!
