Post-doc in Squeezing for GW detectors at IJCLab in Orsay

A 2-years postdoctoral position is opened at IJCLab in the framework of the Qfilter collaboration joining efforts between Japan and France.  The postdoctoral researcher will be part of the gravitational wave team  (responsible Nicolas Leroy, leroy@lal.in2p3.fr) within the astrophysics,  astroparticle and cosmology department (A2C). She/He will work on experimental setup to generate frequency dependent
squeezing. This R&D is part of the Advanced Virgo project to improve its  sensitivity.

Contract Period : 24 months
Expected date of employment : 1 January 2021

The postdoctoral fellow will work on:
– Improving the present system available in the lab to generate squeezed  light (frequency independent)
– Testing the system under vacuum (10-6 mbar)
– Coupling the source to a 50m filtering cavity (already available)
– Characterizing the whole system
– Preparing next step which will use coupled filter cavities

The work will be done within the framework of international  collaboration called Qfilter between France and Japan. In France it includes IP2I (Lyon) and LKB (Paris) laboratories.
